RE: Issues with Roo. Sick of dealing with dealer.

I had a big problem with the water pump noise. When I investigated how it could be SO loud I found that the pump was only secured with 2 screws and they were both on the same side of the pump. When the pump ran it would vibrate up and down with the bottom of the pump slapping the floor. I installed the missing 2 screws and the pump is now much quieter. You should check how your's is connected.

RE: Which Tire?

I'm strongly considering the Firestone Destination A/T. They come in both LT235/75R15C and P235/75R15 108S. I've had Michelin LTX MS in the P radial and when I have the trailer hooked up and the van loaded for a trip the sidewalls are almost touching the ground. (I have had the rig on the scales and I am within my max ratings on all axles, but just barely.) I think I'm going with the LT's, if the advantage is stiffer sidewalls then I think that's what I need.

Which Tire?

We had a blowout on the way home Sunday, so I'm now in the market for replacement tires on the van. I know I'm keeping the same size, but I'm am considering changing from the stock P235/75R15XL to a LT radial. The stock tires have a max capacity of 2138 lbs and the rear axle GWR is 3800 lbs. The only LT radials I can find in this size have a C load rating, and as far as I can tell that is only 1985 lbs capacity. Am I missing something? I would have thougth the LT radial would have more capacity that the stock P radials. Am I better off with the stock tires?

RE: ROO 19 - What to do?

I agree with Leaf-Peeper. Check the caulk around the clearance lights. We had the same exact leak last fall. Re-caulked and no leaking!

RE: Why a Hybrid?

Good luck choosing. It was fun for us looking at the different manufacturers and different models. We're going on our 3rd year with our Roo. So far, we have had 1 leak which turned out to be cracked caulking around the rear clearance lights. Re-caulked and no problems now. We were out 2 weeks ago and had steady rain all night on Saturday, no leaking. Really, I am surprised at how water tight the bunk ends are. Having said that, keep in mind that the bunk ends are really just a tent and there could be other issues. Once DD somehow managed to push the corner of her blanket out around the edge of the bunk so that it was hanging outside. It rained that night and the blanket wicked water into her bead. We moved up from a tent also and we are very happy with our choice. We chose based on our towing capacity and the open floor space in a relatively small trailer afforded by having all the beds "outside".

RE: DC Electric Issues

Mine does not automatically reset. It has a small button but you can't see it because of it's location. I felt around until I found it, pushed it in and presto I had 12v power again. I don't know why the breaker tripped, however. That was 6 months ago and it hasn't happened again.

RE: DC Electric Issues

This exact thing happened to me last November. Turned out to be the fuse Chuck is referring to, only mine is a circuit breaker with a reset button. It is in the exact same location as in Chuck's picture.

RE: Strong arm stabilizers

We have the BAL Delux Tire Locking Chocks. We still have some movement with the chocks deployed and all 4 stabilizers down. The movement is more side to side than front to back. I've been looking at these stabilizers as well, thinking they may take that "wiggle" out.

RE: Custom Van Tow Vehicle

We've been towing our Roo 233 for 2 years with our E-150, 5.4L. It works fairly well, but if I were buying the van today I'd go with the E-350 and the 5.4L to get the beefier suspension.

Grease Seals

Anyone know which grease seal fits a 2006 Roo 233? I'm planning to re-grease the bearings and inspect/adjust the brakes this weekend and want to have the correct seals on hand prior to taking it apart.
